I am NOT going to play the blame game it is my opinion everyone in Washington has fault in the current events. What I AM going to do is encourage you to contact your representatives and encourage them to pass a budget so that military and government employees can get paid. I want to be selfish and encourage you to just bug them about insuring military pay but I can't ignore the 800,000+ civilians who will be going without pay in the case of a government shut down.

Please go here find your senators and congressman (if you know who they are) and send them an email or call them and encourage them to do something about this budget crisis. If we aren't paid we have to pick between our bills and food. Some families have children to worry about, other family members, pets, and the list of concerns goes on.

This doesn't just impact "us" this impacts this entire country and we need everyone to speak up. America is for the people and by the people your voice matters. It won't take you long (I contacted 4 senators and 1 congresswoman last night in less than 10 minutes and that included writing my email out which was rather lengthy) just a simple paragraph that you copy and paste saying something like

Senator ______,

I am asking you as a concerned citizen of this country to quickly pass a budget to ensure the lively hood of millions of American people. Our government employees and military need you to stand up for them and get your job done so that they are able to put food on the table and pay their bills.

Please stand for and with military families and government employees.

All of this, so much. Washington is one huge convoluted mess and the reason I'm a political independent (not the Independent party). I'm convinced they all have their own agendas and that's what's holding all this up. Anyone who is thinking about slapping things into the budget that have NOTHING to do with it at all, and everything to do with hardballing until they get their way, is just wrong. I don't give a crap what party they belong to, they're wrong.

It's like telling your kid, "Well, if you don't clean your room, I'm not giving you lunch money." Um, what? The desire for said child to clean his room is a separate issue from his NEED to eat. Kwim?

A government shutdown would cause an unbelievable harsdship for soooo many people. Both my parents are government civilians and on top of that my father is retired USAF. I really hope this gets figured out... and soon.

Retirees will still get their pension if that helps your parents any.
